Recommended Reading

December is a great time to curl up by the fire and read a great book.  Unfortunately, it's also a popular time to give up exercise due to weather and time constraints, not to mention less sunlight and the luring call of the aforementioned fire and book.  But, if it is going to be book, try some of these for an added dose of motivation (they also make great Christmas gifts!):

The Success Principles by Jack Canfield
A fantastic read with lots of priniciples for getting from where you are to where you want to be.

It's Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong
If you're a Lance fan (I am), this is a great book about the indomitable human spirit and the accomplishments of a freak athlete wholly dedicated to his craft.  If you're not a Lance fan, it does answer the question, "What's he on?"  He's on his bike - 5 hours a day.

The Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes
One man's truth of overcoming the mid-life crisis and becoming one of the greatest long distance runners of all time.

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
A heartwarming lecture about living life to the fullest from a man diagnosed with terminal cancer.  "Time is all you have...and you may find one day that you have less than you think."

Core Performance by Mark Verstegen
While this is an exercise book, it esteems to be much more as Verstegen correlates principles for living a high performance life.

The Paleo Diet (or The Paleo Diet for Athletes) by Loren Cordain
An intriguing look at how man used to eat and a call toward replacing our current diet with more natural foods in order to side-step many current diseases.
